The original cover art for the single was released showing a deflated red heart-shaped balloon against a gray background with the words "Love Lockdown" written in white below. West re-released an edited version of the cover art on his blog on September 16, 2008.
The cover is very similar to the album cover for 808s & Heartbreak. In fact, West has revealed that, due to his hectic schedule, he was unable to properly hire an artist to draw a cover for him, so he had to do it himself with nothing but a graphics program and this image.
